Pitstop article issued June/July 2009:

Stoneleigh -May 3rd & 4th 2009
Sue Roedel

As Ben said earlier, Lee turned Stoneleigh around this year! The stand looked pretty spectacular with 84 cars at its peak. The cars were lined up in rows of models and made for an impressive show for the public. I’m sure we were one of the best turned out clubs and lots of members attended the show and saw for themselves how thriving we are. This year we celebrated the 25th and 30th
I arrived on the Saturday around lunchtime expecting to be one of the first arrivals and there were already at least 10 other cars there with tents and caravans already established! Lee had his newly sprayed Berli looking very nice indeed and it was a huge sadness that by the end of Monday it was no more. What a shock. If you haven’t read Lee’s article, do so now.
Saturday was a lovely sunny day and everyone was in good spirits as more and more cars arrived for the weekend. By early evening we were completely established and the BBQ’s got going and the usual lazing about with drinks and chat ensued.
Sunday morning saw yet more cars joining the stand and Lee got busy organising them in their rows. I eventually emerged and moved my car to the ranks and spent the morning meeting and greeting members in the marquee and doling out tea and coffee.
By 2.00 pm the marquee was getting ready for the AGM and we had a good turnout. Lee took us through his first AGM and we appointed Bob Cawte as the new Ordinary Committee member to replace Alan Hogg who was stepping down and we also welcomed Bon Jackson as the new Marina Roadster Tech rep. Welcome to both Bob’s. As it was the 25th birthday of the Berli and 30th birthday for the Roadster we had a stunning cake for the cars and we sang happy birthday in the marquee before dividing the cake up for the members. Very tasty it was too!

Congratulations go to the winners of the concourse.
