    Hi Everyone

I am looking to buy a Berlinetta sometime in the near future, in fact going to look at one this weekend. I have had a few pointers from Danny regarding front camber, rear ride height and the doors but was wondering if there is anything else to look out for when buying.

I do know my way around cars so will check all the obvious bits of course the quality of the build and the necessary paperwork, is there other specific Berlinetta things to look out for?

    Many thanks, Tom

      hi tom ,
Try to check the electrics, some people wire kit cars with no or little consideration for ampage load ,relays, and proper fuse protection. possablely resulting in failure un reliability, and at worst fire, visually you can only check for things like differant size wires taped together etc, most berlinettas come with the cortina loom,so most of the car should be good.
All I can say if it looks ok it probably is .If it looks a bodge job it probably is.
You will probabily only know how good a kitcar is untill you own it,as unlike a ford or an audi or bentley ,you dont know the build quality of the builder.
      hope this helps ,good luck.

I completely agree with Andy. My roadster bought in November and described as "completely refurbished" is currently having over £700 worth of re-wiring done, basically to make sure the car is safe and reliable. My car had wiring which, unbeknown to me, included household wiring, thin trailer wire and even telephone cable connecting some of the gauges. Some of the wiring behind the dashboard was already showing signs of burning through. I may well post a thorough account of my experience soon, but for now, I would simply say remember the old saying Buyer Beware as there are some kit car builders/re-furbishers/owners out there who have a misguided opinion of their own abilities. Needless to say there are also many very knowledgeable and highly skilled builders too, but the trick is to make sure you buy from the sellers who fall into that category!
