  • Heater Dash Vents for a Hunter / Cabrio

I am looking for a way to get some warm air over my right glove as I always get a cold right hand on frosty days (top down of course)!

I seem to remember seeing a heater vent in each end of the dashboard top cover in an early Cabrio, possibly the early demonstrator? Does anyone have any details of this? Who made the “grille” or was it a fabricated item or maybe, as it’s not seen except when the door is open, it was just an open slot? Did it connect to a Sierra heater box and if so where?

As I never listen to the radio I have even been considering using the dash tweeter holes but can’t find an eyeball vent that will fit the 42mm diameter hole. The nearest are aircraft cabin air vents at silly aircraft prices! Peter.

    Hi Pete,
how about the other option 12volt heated motor cycle gloves, put on gloves, plug in , and go. No messing no wiring no hassle.

I had considered that, but they all seem very bulky for car driving. I even thought about trying a piece of thin vinyl tube from the heater vent and fitted inside the right glove but I think a dash vent is more elegant! Peter.

I made a heater from the Sierra 3 speed blower and heat exchanger. I designed it so that I could use the Sierra dash outlet controls and side vents with a 120 deg swivel. It works very well and also can dump a lot of heat if caught up in a summer traffic jam

Thanks for the info Keith. My set up is similar in the footwells except for your natty swivel outlets. However I don't have the luxury of the double fascia vents that you have in the centre console. I think Mike G has the same in his Cabrio. I am planning to redesign the centre console in mine to get rid of the radio / tape player that I never use, so maybe that will give me the chance to do the same. Peter.
