  • Fiat 2.0 Twin Cam Engine oil?

I'd like to change the oil in our Roadster... The Haynes manual for the Fiat 131 / 132 says it should be "SAE 15W/40 Multigrade Oil - Olio Fiat VS+ Supermultigrado" - but that was 35 years ago & although I think it is referring to mineral oil I'd prefer to take someone's experienced advice..

If you have a Fiat engine - what current available engine oil do you put in it & where can I source an oil filter too?

I tried joining the 'Sporting Fiats' forum to get the same advice but have had no response to my application...

    Many thanks in advance

10w40 semi synthetic should be ok. Your engine should have a number cast on the side iirc like 138? I had this engine in my Abarth Strada 130TC

To be sure you could try here...

Ok thanks for that; the link offers a wide selection of oils; not as difficult as I'd thought it'd be... I have also found the filter now:

If your engine has solid lifters you need oil with a high ZDDP content (Google it). For my Rover V8 I use Titan Syn MC semi synthetic, from Opie Oils. Peter.

Just googled the ZDDP & it does sound good, the oil you refer to would be Fuchs Titan Syn MC semi synthetic - but its currently out of stock with Opie Oils. Says restocked in 3/5 days so I'll give them a week and try again..

Yes that's the one! Apparently the zddp content of oils was reduced to avoid messing up cats. Then they used roller lifters to avoid the wear issue which was bad news for older engines. The law of unintended consequences eh! Peter.

I used valvoline 20/50 racing in the Fiat twin cam that was in my rally car.
