    Re: extended wheel studs

Early Dolomites were 3/8\" Unf later they were changed to 7/16\" Unf.
If you plan on extending the studs I would suggest using the larger diameter studs but check that your wheels will accept the larger studs and nuts.
Replacement studs can be bought from Rimmer Brothers, Canley Classics or other Triumph stockists. For longer studs look at Ford pattern studs that have the same spline diameter, the head of the Ford stud is larger and ideally needs grinding down to fit inside the hub correctly.
What I did was to put the studs in a pillar drill and put my angle grinder to good use.

thanks steve, now i have more questions for you! which ford did the studs come from,so i can order some, and is the thread 7/16 unf still? i have dolomite nuts but 3/8,can always order the later type, but many fords had the 1.5 metric thread,i\'m not sure when the changeover happened.thanks again,

        Re: extended wheel studs

Andy: Before looking at larger studs make sure the wheels can take the larger nuts.
The standard 7/16 studs ae from the Escorts and others, http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/index.php?cPath=731_735.

Even the M12 1.5 studs have the same spline size as the Marina originals but are even larger and its likely that the nuts will not fit your wheels.

Hi Andy i fitted a set of wheels from a MGF last year, ford studs M12 thread 70mm long, MG sleeve nuts and spacers all off ebay, studs were a sport kit but i can\'t remember who made them. very easy conversion (dolly sprint rear, marina front)

            Re: extended wheel studs

thank you for your help guys,i have decided to lathe down the stud extensions that i already have,i\'ve tried a couple and it works a treat.its only the shank not the thread so should be fine.i\'d have liked to get rid of them but going with the path of least resistance(and cash).i\'m not a fan of stud extensions but it had them already to fit the 14 inch bmw 3 series steel wheels and has done 300 000 miles and 35 classic trials on them so i guess they have proved strong enough!
