I saw that. O Series engine. Was that any good? Must have been 'better' than a the A or B Series I would have thought. So probably Ital based?
    - 9th owner of T693 SSC possibly a factory built Ford based V8 Sportster
    - 4th owner of Q309 RNV, an early Cabrio built by Bob Copping, owned Doug & Liz Billings for 16 years
    - 9th Custodian of JRR 929D, Triumph Vitesse based special Paul Moorehouse built prior to the Triumph Roadster kits.
    - 8th owner of Roadster chassis number 2395. Now owned by Barry!
    - Builder of chassis number 2325 (PKK 989M) in the mid 80's. Now owned by Eric & Lynne.

From the 1.7 Ital the basic running gear, front suspension/steering, transmission, gearbox and rear axle are all the same as the 1.8 Marina only some very minor negligible changes were made, away from the bodywork and trim etc.
The OHC engine for the time was indeed better than the B Series.

The O Series were also prototyped into the MGB as a replacement for the B Series. The Perkin Prima diesel (used in LDV CityVan, Maestro & Montego) is based on the O Series petrol.

Parts are available for an O series, but can anyone source a replacement for the thermostat housing?

I remember replacing a thermostat in one of those engines for some one many years ago. Iirc it was a funny looking thing. Wasnt the housing like a long tube bolted to the head? Im intrigued so will do some googling. is there a shortage of housings? Are they prone to failure?
