  • Pinto EFi Plumbing

    Hi Danny,

Here is how I used the old Escort tank with my Bosch L-Jetronic injection.
The system is based on the ’88 Sierra Pinto Efi.

I used the normal fuel outlet which is fixed to the large removable housing which also included the old contents float.
(I have made another hole for a VDO fuel sender)

Fuel is taken up from this pipe, via an 8mm hose and an in line filter to a solid state square type pump.
This pump continuously feeds a 1 litre swirl pot.
The swirl pot has a 6mm return to the Escort tank filler which has an 6mm spur to take this return.
From the bottom of the swirl pot a 15mm hose feeds the uprated Bosch pressure pump. I have mounted the steel Sierra pump and filter mount under the car, inside the chassis about 400mm ahead of the rear wheel.
The pressure filter is the standard Ford Sierra item. This feeds the fuel rail via an 8mm copper pipe and 8mm armoured hose.

I have an adjustable fuel pressure valve on mounted close to the manifold which has a gauge and a 8mm hose return to a spigot on the swirl pot

Thanks Dane, I think I may have to add a swirl pot.
    Danny.
