I think your all correct about the solid screen frame, Why I thought it was hollow was when I drilled and tapped my frame for the lift dot studs the tap broke off in the lowest position, which is probably where the box chassis meets the solid screen frame and I remember punching it through into the void. Well it was over thirty years ago.
More than one person has cut the the frame off so anyone got a picture of the cross section??
