I am starting to feel guilty about taking up so much space on the site as it goes against the grain for me, the site is for car builders, so I apologise if I have irritated anyone.Peter go further forward, I must keep that gem of using a twist grip for a hand brake grip. Break not (brake).
    Hi Phil.

No not “that” Peter but I have used the soldered olive trick myself for a fuel line on my first car (a Sunbeam Talbot 10) back in the 60s! Prior to that I had a 150 LD Lambretta!

I thought that your reference to break / brake was a problem solving hint!

You may say that the website is for car builders but it would be rather boring if that is all we talked about, so I don’t think that your quiz is a waste of space at all. It excersises the brain and develops problem solving skills that are essential for maintaining cars like ours. We could have a separate place on the forum for things like this just to keep the grey matter alive!

Meanwhile I will keep chipping away at the Lambretta challenge. Peter.

Do you toot that (Lambretta?) windtone horn sticking out on the badge bar, in celebration of a job completed? Peter.

Tooting is down londonland is it not. My car has 2 horns non lambretta. You are getting so warm I nearly had a cororororany
Break and brake were intentional, did you work at Bletchley Park in a former life? So brake/break, what about steering and you had a lambretta. Did I mention Cortina uprights how would you control them and where would it be?

Well I had a Mk2 Cortina and my son had a couple of Mk5s but I am still pondering. Is the Lambretta part definitely visible in the photo on post #12 above?

What is that shiny chrome thing just below the bonnet front spring catch? Peter.

Banter helps lighten the day, but makes it hard to find the nuggets of experience you may want to revisit. So agreeing with all and closing this thread.

Wiĺl open a new one to keep it simple and focused on my spannering requests.

See ya'll in the general chit chat forums.

Thanks to all for their positive responses. Have now created a new Thread in the 'Build and rebuild Diary' Area' > MX5 Marlin for Dorian Grey... - should have started there in the first place.

How about it could be that the Observer Corps are looking for chaps like you.

Lambretta series 1 and 2 front disc brake alloy air scoop. Covers the hole where the Marina steering rack arms came through the bonnet sides. Choice was new sides or air scoops, and shiny polished alloy Lambretta parts won.
Send me your details, address ,postcode etc to my notifications at top of page. I have a slight problem, I live in Press that inn, and my 40ft container is in Evesham about 150 miles away.I go there every few weeks to collect furniture and stuff but I'll make it worth your wait, promise. Phil.
Buggerbuggerbuggerbugger, sorry if I offend anyone's sensibility.

                    LOL!!

Was thinking of keeping the Marina steering rack, but if you are saying it will not work where it is with the MX5 engine installed, and I will need to get the Escort one, then yes am interested in your shiny polished alloy Lambretta bits. But no rush as am a long way from attempting the engine install. Next step is to remove Marlin wings, engine side panels, floor pan and drive tunell.

I'll move this post to continue this conversation on my 'MX5 Marlin of Dorian Grey' thread.
