I don't like modern cars so:
starting as a boy in 1989:

        Mk 1 Escort (1100cc gutless)
Mk 2 Escort (1600cc wish I'd kept it)
Mk 2 Vitesse convertible (endless repairs but it was regularly abused, I was 20 and out to impress at the time!)
Mk4 1500 Spitfire (Fantastic long distance tourer)
2 x 1500 Dolomites (winter cars whilst running high milage in Spitfire)
Pug 205 GTI (brief flirtation with modern stuff)
        Marina Based 1275cc Marlin (Baptism!)
Mk 2 Crayford Cortina GT (brilliant concept and dare I say better than the vitesse?)
Vitesse Marlin (torque, torque and more torque)
Vitesse Mk 2 Conv (better one this time with tuned 2.5l in)
The marina based marlin again, Well it was a good one!

DUTTON MELOS (self-built) yep, my first car was a kit (really wanted a Berli, tho', but couldn't afford it). Used it for 5 years,, and sold it for a profit!
YUGO 45 (Thiiings, can only get bett-ur...)
AUSTIN MONTEGO 2.0 (quite liked it - it was luxury after the Yug)
              FIAT TIPO ('nuff said)
              VAUXHALL ZAFIRA (for two kiddies)
MARLIN BERLI!!! 25 years later! (And an NG TF - making up for lost time, now)

Not many cars for 30 years of driving - I basically ran them all into the ground!

850 Mini[nicknamed the 'yellow submarine' except there was more water on inside when it rained
2x Volvo 340's-not as bad as Clarkson would have you beleive
Volks Beetle 1303-you need thermals in winter -appalling heating/ventilation
Opel corsa-very reliable but needed 5 speeds

Re: Previous cars What were yours ?

Ah...nostalgia is not what it used to be...

                  starting in, er..1967:
Mini van (willow green of course) Known by my pals as "The Fornicatorium&quot
Frogeye sprite (996cc formula junior) rebuilt
Another mini van! (first of the travelling disco kings!)
                  Morris minor 1000
MGA (wooden floors = no floors!)
TR4a rebuilt (trashed - tent pegged into stone wall at ~115mph. only injured when fell out of door into gorse bush!) Very nice long distance cruiser.
                  TR3a
Morris 1100 (after pranging the 4a)
Maxi 1750 - mine went OK.
TR2 1958 longdoor ex Alpine rally car. Went like roasted mucus - always broken somewhere.
                  Mk1 GT6 eek!
                  **** got married ! ****
Spitfire 1500 - inherited with wife - contents lovely but engine ghastly!
                  Chrysler Alpine horrid
Chrysler Alpine replacement under guarantee for above, also horrid
Peugeot 305 estate. - excellent hard working car.
BMW 320 series 1- very nice in those days.
Rover 2600 SD1. Once one got the hang of tuning the Maserati derived straight six engine this was a great car. Easily tuned to provide the same BHP as the V8 SD1.
FIAT Panda 1.2 (joint owner with her!)
Peugeot 205 GRD ( Job required 320 mile commute. Very quick economical and reliable car. Drove it in to the ground after 275000 miles with just routine servicing!)
Citroen BX (I learnt a lot about servicing with this one)
Citroen Xantia Top of range racer. very good!
Mitsubishi L200 single cab pick up (bought a smallholding!)
Mitsubishi Pajero SWB 2.8 fieldmaster - sold L200, bought trailer, now travel in comfort.
Mazda Tribute. Wife's wheels but very underrated vehicle. Better than Honda CRV in it's day.
                  MF35x - well, I did buy a smallholding!
Bought clapped out Berlinetta in 90s. Gradually changed everything mechanical. Got a new engine now which will go in soon once I have sorted out the car's diabolical wiring.
Next car ?.. Nice Gordon will have us all in Trabants or donkey carts by then!

                  Best wishes all.
                  Marlin Berlinetta 2.1 Efi

Avenger, 1250, again grew to 1500, blew it up
                    Triumph 2000 mk2 Luxury
Opel Manta, 2.0 CIH (great fun car)
Ford Sierra 2.0IS God help us
Citroen BX Turbo D (300000 and still going)
                    Pug 205 GRD x 2
                    VW Golf GTI
Metro ( commuting 600 miles a week, it lasted quite well)
Roadster, 2.0 pinto goes very well.

Saab 900GLS (Oil every where but where it should be)
Quantum saloon Kit car (Good car lousy engine)
Honda Civic 1600 VTEC (Cracking screamer engine)
Marlin Cabrio (At last, real driving pleasure)
2003 1.25LX Ford Fiesta (Nicknamed rolly-polly because thats what it does best)
