  • Fitting Door Mirrors

One of the problems of buying a Berli ready built, as it were, is that making improvements can be full of surprises. My car has but one exterior mirror, on the drivers door. I set out to fit a second, in the equivalent place on the passenger side. When I removed the trim I find that there is no easy way to get to the inside of the door panel to fix using nuts and bolts. Has anyone tried using Riv-nuts?(threaded inserts?)How much clearance is there before I hit the window glass? What size ahould I use? M5? M6?
Or would I be better fitting mirrors to the screen surround (as Cabrio?) Advice please!

    Re: Fitting Door Mirrors

Hi Bill, One way to do the job.
Tank cut a hole approx 25 to 40mm dia in the inner door panel this lets you get at the fixings, or cut two if you need to dependant on the manner your mirrors fix. I have also seen a plastic plug like a rawl plug but for a larger self tapping thread used from the outer skin on two fixing mirrors. There are many ways bill, look at them all and then make your mind up.
    Regards
    Danny
