Does anyone know of a guaranteed supplier of Marina/Ital shafts. I desperately need a pair for the MOT. Alternatively, what is the simplest/most modern replacement for the Marina/Ital axle ?

You can get used shafts from Rimmer Bros - these are for the Dolly (cooking versions, not the Sprint) & Toledo. They are the same as those used in the Marina, although you need to check the size of the keyways - they came in 2 flavours on the Triumphs I think. As for new you might be lucky with a small local Rover dealer who hasn't cleared out the stockroom for years but I wouldn't bet on it (assuming they haven't gone bust yet). Best advice is buy a used axle for spares...I got one last week off eBay for ?1. You could also try some of the Caterham specialists, as the Ital axle got used in quite a few Caterhams...although anything that has been thrashed around a track might not be long for this world.

Thanks Jez, panic over, you are right about the Caterhams. I found out that early Caterhams used the Marina axle and after contacting Caterham Aftersales via the Caterham website http://www.caterham.co.uk/aftersales/index.htm, I am now the proud owner of a new pair of halfshafts. Not cheap but it is about time I spent some money on the old girl.

          Hi

If you are going to thrash the car, Quaiffe used to supply uprated Marina/Ital halfshafts for the Caterham boys. But its possible that they are the same as the Caterhams ones that you have got.
