  • Build manual

Just bought a Marina based SWB roadster (nearly all there but rough round the edges) , is it still possible to get a copy of the build manual as a few bits are missing(fuel tank, heater box, front amd rear bumper tubes). I'm hoping a copy will answer the questions I have on the missing bits.
    Cheers

    Re: Build manual

Hi Matthew I am not sure if the manual is still available mine is pretty sketchy any way but if you can not get one i could copy the sections you need and forward them to you.
My manual says use a ford Escort Van or Estate MK 1 or MK 11 Fuel tank. the heater box is just a one page sketch of what seems to be a marina heater, and the front and rear Bumper tubes are not mentioned but are shown on the Chassis drawing as already fitted as part of the Chassis( though i have seen other bumpers fitted over the original tubes ) My Roadster tubes have been extended at some time to cover the width of the tyres. hope this helps a little.

      Re: Build manual

Cheers for that, I had it in my head from memory that the tank was from a MG Midget, had no idea about the heater and knew about the bumper tubes but was trying to find the OD and how far the chassis extends forward and back from the body to remount them (someone has chopped them off!!), also I think the rear springs aren't marina as the mounts have been drilled in the chassis just under the rear tub and aren't sleeved, got a funny feeling they may be single leaf escort items but really need a local motor to check and take some measurements. I work for a Classic Car restoration place so have some contacts for getting older parts but need to know what I'm looking for in the 1st place.
      Cheers

The tank is Mrk2 Escort hatch.
The heater on mine is from a Mini Van as it's a self contained unit and is popular with most kit-cars. Try finding one though!

If you email me exactly what you are after, I'll use some of the oodles of spare time I have to get the (rough) measurements and pictures for you (just finished Uni and enjoying a short break). Indeed, whenever I do something to the car I take a few snap shots so chances are I have suitable pics in my library

Email address is on the website (via Contact me page)

Oh, and on a funny note. I was driving through Newcastle a bit back and hear a yell from the bus driver. Apparently he used to own one and VW Beetle bumpers fit nicely over the bumper bars and look nicer. I mean really, whats wrong with my nice Hammerite black bars? It's handy for repainting duties when some pillick scratches them.
