    Re: Power steering

There was an article in one of the kit car mags a few months back about a kit that one of the Cobra replica companies had developed to add power steering to their Cobra. It was a motor which fitted around the top of the steering column, you could vary the amount of assistance it provided or just turn it off when not needed. I think they developed it for a sierra column, may be worth a searh on the net. (I can't remember the company)

Looks like her indoors is going to have to go to the gym and do some weight training on her arms.

                Hi all,

I found that after a week or so of mixing several tons of concrete by hand, the Berli felt like it had power steering - even whilst parking!
(it hasn't improved my back much though!)

                Happy new year!

I checked some time ago and there were some late Cortinas with PAS. So I was hoping that if you can find one, the rack would be interchangable with the manual one. My car is running a sierra pinto engine and box, so the pump and bits are easy to source.
I wanted PAS to speed up the rack (opposite lock junkie)without making it impossible to park.

I cant see any reason why the power rack should not be made to fit.

our scout group is building a berli at the mo, and going through the parts, the donor vehicle had PAS. the position of the steering rack doesnt line up with the hole in the rad support member, which i presume the extended steering linkage goes through

                        is this a problem??

any ideas please, as were racking our brains (sorry)!
