Very unusual to see a 51 plate on what is clearly a Marina based roadster.

        Hi

The car is actually first reg in 1973 on the front of the V5, altho shows rebuild date as 2001

As listing states its all registered and MOT'd , so there should be no problem with taxing etc, it is currently on sorn

The chassis number on the v5 and Mot are all correct with the chassis number and the front bulkhead and also front chassis rail.

Didn't think you could have a newer registration on an older car. taken from DVLA leaflet INF 222 Important things you need to know when you transfer or retain a registration number.
You cannot display a vehicle registration number that will make your vehicle appear to be younger than it is.

Guy wasn't able to explain it.

It all appears to be in order.

Maybe we can find the previous owner/owners and find out how they did it?

The original registration given to the car after SVA (YTA 359L) was replaced with a private plate. This has obviously been kept when the car was sold on. Standard DVLA process in this case is to give it another plate reflecting same year of manufacture which is this case they have decided was the date of SVA - 2001.

So it seems that the DVLA can pick and choose just which of their rules to apply, seemingly randomly.
Perhaps we all ought to resent our Q plate cars for re registration when we rebuild, quoting this as an example.

Well there is a case for someone to try and get one through an IVA.

                  Thanks Jon

I don't think they will stand for foam rubber and cable ties any more !!

Interesting to see the shoulder seatbelt mount quite different from the 'standard' Roadster arrangement as it's substantially higher than the cockpit rim.
Could that meet the current IVA regs? Surely it would need complete stress calculations etc.
