    Hi,
Our Roadster is about ready for it's back on the road MOT but I have purchased some Smiths handmade instruments and am having hassles with the sensor for the electronic speedo.

Anyoneout there got any experience of such beasties?

    Thanks,

    Vic VDB

Should perhaps have added that I have also dropped a 2litre Pinto engine into the aforemwntioned vehicle so it will have a little bit of pace (and 5 gears) :-).

Hi Vic, I have a Smiths electronic Speedo with a magnetic sensor.

My carefully constructed steel holder caused the sensor not to work. My hastily made aluminium one is much stronger, lighter, better in every way. It also allows the sensor to work.

I diagnosed the problem by holding the sensor in my hand and waving in front of the magnets using a meter to measure the output.

My set up is with four magnets bonded in position round the axle end of the propshaft.

      Hope this helps, paul.
