    Body off and work needed as it's been in storage since 1998. Price looks ambitious for a project.

      I thought I recognised this car, see here, first photo;

      I think the guy with the dark hair and 'tash was the owner and the car was one of the best at the show at that time, very well put together.

      Can't have been used much as the tyres look to be the originals!

      Always odd seeing the 'then & now' photo's, especially when I've been out of the club, country and Marlin ownership for 30 years!

        On the left Margret Priest and the ( Purple Peril) Nice to see that this car now advertised looks to still be in reasonable condition.

          Is that the purple car that later lost it's windscreen and was then, recently, broken up for spare on eBay?

            Thats the one, a bit special in its day. Andrew Priest took it back to Marlin ( Paul Moorhouse) and had the chassis cut and a piece added to make it longer. So definately the first ever LWB and a MK1, and quick. A sad end to a good car.

              Somebody should write the full history of 'Purple Peril' for Pitstop. Wasn't Noel Pendock-Wheaton the one who chopped the windscreen off?
              Was it the most customised Chassis conversion of a Roadster, apart from the MX5 transplant in France?

                Coincidentally, I was reading through back issues of Pitstop and came across this in the Dec 2007/jan 2008 issue:

                  And in June/July 2008
                  CCI12052016_00000.jpg

                  Worth pointing out that the tyres from a 2CV might fit Triumph rims, but the 2CV had 3 bolt PCD so the rims won't fit a Triumph hub.

                    What was the Circuit des Remparts d'Angoulême all about?
                    Why don't we hear about it now?

                        Apparently Purple Peril was a regular visitor along with a few others. Who I wonder?

                          Yes Circuit des Remparts d'Angoulême is still running, rumour had it they had a financial blip a few years back but I think it runs the same weekend as Kop Hill Climb because we often have people telling us (Kop Hill Climb) that they are going there rather than coming to us.
