  • Weber Carb fitment

Hi, I have a 1.6 pinto (from sierra). I've managed to source a weber 32/36 DGV carb and inlet manifold. However from what I can see I need a packing plate of some kind between the two and a bracket for the throttle cable. Anyone got any experience of this or know a good source for spares. Did find a bracket on ebay but this cost more than the carb :-)

Gary the packing plate you refer to is the base gasket. Part no 99900026. this is from Webcom spare parts. You will also require a bracket and throttle linkage rod. dgav carbs are jetted slightly different for 1.6 and 2.0 very slightly. I can give you the exact figures if you wish? Look up WEBCON www.webcon.co.uk

Thanks Danny. The exact figures on the jetting would be useful since the carb I got was originally fitted to a 2.0L. Also, I looked at www.webcon.co.uk but couldn't seem to get a list of parts - where on the site were you looking?

Hi, Gary. The main jet for the 1.6 primary is 140 and secondary 135. The main jet for the 2000 primary is 140 and secondary is 140. The idle jet for the 1.6 primary is 55 and secondary is 50. The idle jet for the 2000 primary is 60 and the secondary is 50. Pump jet is common for both at 50. air corrector very slight difference as is the emulsion tube. Try phoning Webcon 01932 789809 this is Middlesex, but they can give you local contact no. My part nos come from fitting instructions supplied with replacement Weber from Webcon UK Ltd. Years ago! in my younger years the first tuning mod we carried out on 2000 ohc was to fit weber off 3000 capri and get the thing breathing better, so I am sure you wont have a problem with a carb that is jetted for 2000 ohc. Good Luck Danny.

Thanks again Danny. I'm looking forward to this as there is little or no adjustment on the VV and it lacks a little throttle response.

Well, it's been a while but I finally got around to replacing my carb towards the backend of last year. It was okay to start with but ran a little rough. I renewed all the jets and then got some assistance from the professionals - I was chuffed as the only thing they had to do was tweak the timing a little and replace one idle jet to improve the economy a little. It now starts reliably (even after weeks of not running - had a hand-operation and couldn't drive).
Thanks to all for the advice!
