  • paint colour , shot in the dark request

    hi all
there have been many paint colour requests on this forum and this is yet another.
My Sierra based Berlinetta forum pic.jpg is in the picture above
and there were many Berlinetta's sent out by Marlin looking like this.
i think the dark colour is gun metal grey but the sliver is, well, just silver ?
anybody got and better detail on the colour spec than me, please ?

Re: paint colour , shot in the dark request

ì have tried a few round here and they are not to helpful, plus i cant get the vehicle there.
the best company i know for matching paint are 40 miles away, and i would need to take a part off the car and take it to them..
it seemed easier to ask the forum if anybody knew the paint codes marlin used..

I am not aware of any factory built Berlinetta's, so your only chance would be to track down the original builder and see if they have a note of the colour. If you are trying to match the colour you might find that the original paint has faded and you need a different shade to get a match anyway.

Maybe, like mine, it was finished by YKC?

Re: paint colour , shot in the dark request

I seem to remember that when Marlin built their one off Makeria(sic) it was painted to match the oweners nail varnish. (Of course I might of had a weird dream)
But Marlin painted cars in whatever colour they were asked to do, so your car could be any number of different colours. You really do need to get it matched professionally.

Steve Himsworth, one of the people who ran YKC sometimes comments over on the Marlin Enthusiasts Facebook page, so maybe ask on there? As I said before trying to match 20 year old paint by using the original code will end in tears.
