Re: Exeter Trial 2022 Simms Hill

It’s called a ‘Restart’. Applies to some competitors depending on which ‘class’ their vehicle is in. See link below for more information.

    Exeter Trial 2022 Simms Hill

I missed going to Fingle this year to take Marlin photos, due to a dodgy knee. However this video of Simms cheered me up. Good to see the Marlins out in force doing what they are good at! Peter.

    Re: Oil Cooler not working

I would start at source. Get a multimeter and check the battery. Then check the battery Earth is clean and secure, both at the battery and the earthing point. Has the car got an isolator switch that...

    Re: Oil Cooler not working

The HT normally goes to earth, just via the spark plug gap, so I can’t see why that would cause the problem. My worry is that one of the loose HT leads has fired HT into a sender wire or similar that...

    Re: Oil Cooler not working

Yes that’s exactly what I would do. BTW gas man, if you want to re-install yours this way I have a pair of brand new J connectors for the oil cooler, surplus to requirements, that you can have for...

    Re: Oil Cooler not working

I suspect that the thermostat will control a sliding valve that re-directs the oil through the oil cooler circuit when it gets hot enough. By removing the thermostat/ sliding valve, the ends of the...

    Re: Oil Cooler not working

I am not familiar with the Sportster but would question fitting an oil cooler with the feed and return pipes at the bottom? I know you say that you have tried to ensure no air locks but it just seems...

    Re: Cabrio E416AYB

Aha! Good progress then. I guess the original owner / builder wanted the option of only main beam, or spots as well then? Peter.

London Brighton Veteran Car Run 2021

A bit of light relief from modern stuff! Call me old fashioned but these early cars seem to refresh the memory of what it was all about in the early days. A fair turn of speed up Hammer Hill by some...

Thats interesting as I was sure my ‘87 2.0 GL had a bolt. There always seems to be something new to learn with Ford cars!

Re: I ought to know this, but...

I am puzzled. My steering wheel is secured with a flanged bolt and some thread locker on the threads. the wheel fits on a tapered hexagonal “spline”. Maybe earlier columns were fitted with nuts?...

    Re: Liquid piston rotary engine

Thanks for sharing this Paul. Interesting how the seals and combustion chamber have been reversed from the familiar engine design, so the seals are stationary! It would make a good engine for a light...
