    Well it was yesterday really...
After removing the steering wheel and discovering it is almost impossible to remove a Sierra pedal assembly complete I managed to extract just the clutch pedal to...
  2. Re: Is the Marlin Cabrio fuel tank baffled?

My carbrio tank (2003) has a small dished area at the bottom in the centre of the tank and that is where the fuel pick up point is. I run with a low pressure pump at the back and a high pressure pump...
  3. Re: Do you know much about the Ford i4 8 valve DOHC engine?

Can't remeber as such but Haynes says "On DOHC
models, the sender is located at the front of
    the inlet manifold (see illustration)."

    Re: MT75 Kwik shift

    Hi Bill,
I fitted a quick shift which I think I got from Rally Design, but it may have been Burton.. A long time ago.
However provided you can get enough space by loosening the top of the gearstick...

    Re: IVA test

If you have a Ford engine then this page https://www.burtonpower.com/tuning-guides/tuning-guide-pages/ford-manufacture-dates.html will define the date of the engine. The only caveat is if it is a 8V...
  6. Seirra 3.6 diff - free to a good home

I have just replaced my Sierra diff because there was about 10 degrees of backlash in the old one. So if anyone out there wants a Sierra 3.6 diff that needs rebuilding you are welcome to have my old...
  7. Re: Cabrio 205 Pinto Engine Squeaky Fan Belt.

    Hi,
Are you sure the belt has teeth, or does it consist of a set of grooves, which I think is usual for this engine/alternator combination.
I think the noise is cause by the belt slipping slightly...

Re: Fuel lines and wheel arches

If you have separate electrical feeds to the two pumps then you need a switch in each line.
It would be best to mount the switches somewhere easily accessible though, you dont want to be crawling...

Re: Fuel lines and wheel arches

I ran my fuel lines through copper pipe that was mounted in the transmission tunnel to make sure it was out of harms way.
I also fitted an inertial fuel cut off switch to the fuel pumps.

    Re: Stripping alloy wheels

To be honest I didn't even contemplate doing it my self but took a set of wheels to a specialist refurbisher. Cost an arm and two legs though.

    Re: Fuel Preservative

Fuel in my tank sat there for 3 years while I sorted out what to do with the engine I destroyed. New engine in, turned key and started with no issues. The fuel was not treated with anything.
    I don't...

    Re: Suspension

The change to tubular front wishbones happened a long time before IVA. I bought my kit in 2003 and IVA occured in 2009.

Can't help you directly, but if you take them to a Motorsport specialist (I use Merlin at Castle Coombe) they can measure them including spring rate and get a similar pair.

    Interesting note, my...
  17. Re: Just suppose you have to tow your Marlin on a trailer...

    Mike,
I suggested afixing the rope near the rack mounting bracket, if it can't take the load of being pulled onto a trailer then the steering rack is going to fall off when you hit a bump at speed....
  18. Re: Just suppose you have to tow your Marlin on a trailer...

If the tow is just to get it onto a trailer then you are not going to put any significant pull or jerks on the tow rope, so I would put it around the steering rack near one of the brackets.
    I used...

    Re: Alternator problem… again.

A local scrapyard has a test rig for alternators. It is quite simple.

    Re: Ignition and door lock

I put a plate behind the bracket to spread the load.
I don't bother with door locks, mostly I have the roof off anyway so it doesn't make sense, and it is probably easy enough to get into the car...
  23. Re: Serial number position for gearbox and rear axle please

I seem to remember that when my Cabrio went through IVA I put N/A for gearbox and differential numbers. But that was 11 years ago and I can't find the copies of the paperwork I filled out.
