    Re: IVA Vin Number

For the standard nuts I bought some rubber nut covers that just slip on.
On the anti-rollbar where the large nuts is on the end I made a cover from some water pipe insulating foam and covered it in...

    Re: IVA Vin Number

One of my IVA failures was the VIN was on the near(passanger) side and split over two lines.
The tester commented the rule was stupid as many production cars have the VIN number in other locations,...

I bought a set of number/letter stamps and stamped the VIN...

    Re: 2l DOHC engine removal.

Yes you can leave all the electrics to the lights etc. in place.
An engine crane would be useful. I dangle the engine from a beam in the garage and push the car back after I have freed the engine...

    Re: 2l DOHC engine removal.

    Yes. nose stayed in place.
I don't know if you can take out engine and gearbox in one peice with removing any more. When I installed it as a unit there were no panels fitted, and the gearbox has...

    Re: 2l DOHC engine removal.

Hi Stewart. I've done 2l DOHC engine in/out several times. If you are going to only work on the engine I would leave the gearbox in place.
    1. Remove bonnet. You can get better access if you remove...

    Thanks for that Steve.
Following the comments after my post about having the indicators placed on the inside and not the outside I did check visually that there was +-80 degrees of coverage from the...

    Re: Marlin Roadster Registration Advice

A long time ago in a place not far away (my drive) I built a Spartan Treka. I did invent a VIN for it, CAC-01 (my initials plus a number) My wife wasn't happy when she realised the last in the...

    Re: Marlin Roadster Registration Advice

    I don't think so, see https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-registration/vehicle-identification-number
BTW the chassis number has to be stamped on the car and the IVA manual defines how and where (I know...

Having replaced a DOHC 2.0l on carbs with a Zetec engine I would say that moving a swirl pot and exhaust system are not the major issues.

    Re: LED rear lights

Checked the visibilty angles using a protractor. Both indicator and tail can be seen at 80deg from the centreline.

    Re: LED rear lights

It went through IVA with the lights that way round, as in my first photo.

The recessed hole is symetrical so I only need to remove the lights and rotate them 180 degrees.
    But the...
  21. Re: Raceline water rail, Zetec engine and overheating.

Yes its all sorted, the hole did the trick.
The raceline water rail is machined so that is is nearly impossible to put the stat in the wrong way round.
  22. Raceline water rail, Zetec engine and overheating.

My experiment to determine if the fan was coming on when the engine was getting hot was documented in another thread Got-puzzled continued with the engine getting hotter.
