    Re: Steering Wheel Alignment

    Hi Steve
In post #21 by Adrian the Marina workshop manual clearly states that the hole is for centralising the rack for "refitting to the car" and centralising the steering system to the car....

    Re: Steering Wheel Alignment

Please be careful with this approach Hugh. It is well documented that the older cars like ours had a greater lock on the left turn than on the right turn. Triumphs especially and I think the marina...

    Re: Steering Wheel Alignment

Now might be a good time to make sure the steering system is in optimal position. Over time, adjustment of tracking and possible steering rack replacement can get things abit wayward. This can...

Just came across this advert on Pistonheads. Looks great and I have never seen one with an opening boot before. That must be a one-off feature.

Re: Type 9 Gearbox in a Roadster

    Hi Andy
You bring up an interesting point here. I have often considered the virtues of fitting some anti-tramp bars to try to reduce the wind up. I have a fiat twin cam engine fitted to the roadster...

    Re: GT6 Marlin on ebay

Maybe the same person bought this GT6 car that bought the correctly registered hybrid roadster on Gumtree. That car had no mechanical parts so the bringing together of these two would seem ideal...

So basically he/she had the car for 4 weeks. In that time took all the lights off, took out the windscreen, painted the chassis and windscreen surround silver (possibly the whole car), removed the...

    Re: At last wing piping

    Hi Adrian
This might help you with positioning. Always room for "interpretation" but as this rule was made in 1989 then I guess it is as relevant as can be....

    Re: At last wing piping

    That’s better. :)
when I first built my roadster I had indicators fitted directly below the headlights and it failed. I literally fitted an extended bracket to move them forward by 10 cm and the MOT...

  16. Re: Is this an early Marlin? Listing on Car and Classic

I am afraid you are probably right.
This is registered as a 1970 Triumph Vitesse in green
  17. Re: Is this an early Marlin? Listing on Car and Classic

I was just about to reply with the same thing, BUT something is just not quite right for it to be a Vincent MPH. The bonnet is wrong (too horizontal / flat), the scuttle is wrong, the grill is...

Re: Type 9 Gearbox in a Roadster

To be honest Andy, I would not get too hung up on this. In the original Marina application, there was a centre propshaft bearing which was solidly fixed at exactly zero degrees of inclination. BL in...

Re: Type 9 Gearbox in a Roadster

    Hi Andy,
As Steve has alluded to... There is a BIG difference between static loading and Dynamic loading of a mechanical system. The rear suspension on the roadster is very basic and has many...

Re: Type 9 Gearbox in a Roadster

For a leaf spring based solid rear axle car these numbers, if I have understood your diagram correctly, look pretty spot on. There should be a 2-3 degree difference to compensate for leaf...

    Re: 1.8TC exhaust system options

If it were me, I would build a new system from stainless, including the manifold. The cast iron manifolds are not free flowing, are prone to cracking and most importantly can't be wrapped in heat...

    Re: Marina Roadster Spares

Re: Type 9 Gearbox in a Roadster

Not the spacer block itself but a wedge. There appears to be some confusion here though.
The original mk1 marina was designed with a zero degree rake on the axle. It caused loads of issues though...
