    Re: Steering

Hi. Sorry it's taken a while to reply. I used the Burton's engineering option. I send my old rack to them in. If it is possible they repair my own rack and send it back.

    Re: Stoneleigh 2021

I will sadly have to cancel my attendance at the show. It will be the first show I've missed for many years. My mother died last week. The funeral is just after the bank holiday so I'm very busy with...

    Re: Fuell

Just a reminder for us all with the older engines and fuel systems. Pump unleaded will change at the start of September to be fully E10 grade. This can cause corrosion in some alloys and copper...

    Re: Stoneleigh 2021

Just thinking about the last show. Trade stands didn't entirely fill the halls. In the largest hall they screened off an unused area with quite a large space behind. If it is necessary to have an AGM...

Yup. Lucky there. A standard Ford Cotina Rack. Still spares available.for it.
Just test driven after a 1mm tweak to the tracking. Transformed ! I'll keep that setting which is now 1.5mm toe in at...

    Re: Demise of GB

I cannot disagree with you W. The country designators for the internet are generally USA derived. Oddly, when I go to a web site for a purchase, "country" is generally UK. When it comes time to pay...

    Re: Demise of GB

I'm not convinced that vehicle markings are "...not really a car related discussion". I specifically place the post in General Discussion as it is not vehicle specific. If you feel that you do not...

    Demise of GB

Our "wonderful" Transport Minister has gone along with the plan to remove the GB marking; changing it to "UK". The world knows GB.
UK could be confused with Ukraine or Uzbekistan for example. He...

    Steering

An advisory was issued at Moll's last MoT. The chap discovered slight play at the RH inner track rod end. I decided to fix that so out came the rack. It had certainly worn so the first plan was to...

    Re: Stoneleigh?

Hi Geoff. The traditional Sunday / Monday show would be great for me. I don't think I will miss the early May iced up tent zip on the Sunday morning.
Let us hope we can all meet up again and put...

Don't try plugging the cables in at random. You could cause a short. Use the diagrams above after tracing the cables back to their origin. It's time consuming but worth it. Make notes and Mark the...

I can't get there at the moment as it looks a good buy.

Shetland Classic Car show and Tours

    Blast!
I drive Moll from the Lizard as far as Muckle Flugga every other year to attend this fantastic car show in Lerwick. In 2018 she managed Land's End to John 'O Groats in 15 hours exactly.
    I...

    Re: 2.0 pinto timing

The Burton web site has a good guide how to do it. I believe the Haynes Sierra manual has the info although I don't have this book.

    Re: 2.0 pinto timing

I agree with the others. If the Pinto is at all non-standard, the use of a dial test gauge is the only way to set up the timing. Even on the standard set up the TDC marks on the crank pulley can be...

    Re: Berli/Cortina Ignition Switch

Hi, I had a similar problem. The key wouldn't insert properly. A squirt of ACF50 into the key slot followed by wiggling the key in and out of the slot soon freed the tumblers. The keys work fine now.
  21. Re: Tapping / Clunking under load from gearbox, propshaft area of Berly

    Hi.
This was not uncommon with the Cortina based Berly. I have no experience of the Sierra based version.
The tunnel and chassis members don't leave a huge space for the rear or top of the...

Yesterday was my Berlinetta's Mot time again. Full pass, no advisories and the emissions up to modern standards (although the tester said I only needed a smoke test). I like a full test to see how...
