    Re: Heater options

On a return journey from Castle Combe, supposed to be a jolly club day out, we managed a flat tyre. Although I’ve had all the wheels off numerous times at home in the garage, I’d never done this on...

Love the idea that eating a “Full-English, greasy fry-up” is an “Ulcer-free” way of travelling!
Weren’t we all slim back then?

Re: Drum brake retaining screw - thread size?

With four, or five ½” high-tensile studs and nuts holding the wheel to the drum and the drum to the hub, does anyone know what purpose these tiny screws actually serve?

  5. Re: E10 what to make a fuel tank and rigid pipes out of?

Blagged a shopping trip to Sainsbury’s in the Marlin, I discover the tank is pretty empty. Ever since I’ve owned the car I’ve gone for a local garage’s BP* ‘Ultimate’ (as already said here at...
  6. 20 years in storage, owner would like some advice/help to restore

I was at a ‘Vintage’ car rally at the weekend, ‘posing’ with the Marlin, (as you do) when an ex-MOC member came up to introduce himself.

It seems he has a 1979 roadster which has been ‘on the...

    Re: Demise of GB

I recently checked with the USofA post office as I had to give a postal address to someone from Houston, apparently they think ‘UK’ is Ukraine and therefore recommend always using GB in the address.

If the round plastic cam-case breather looks like this one – Bottom right corner – That thick black rubber tube simply down trails alongside the engine and vents to air underneath the car. I’m...

Re: Bonnet catches, anyone recognize this one

I contacted an ‘old school chum’ who is very much into skiing, his reply:-

“Hi Col, Yes definitely ski boot clips. I can’t identify the make. The clear plastic ratchet reminds me of a make...

102-mile run out, Pasty and a pint

We had a great trip out to Buckland Abbey (Home of Sir Francis Drake) a very long walk around the grounds, due to footpaths being closed and on the way home, a late lunch at the Bull & Dragon...

    Re: Cabrio V8 cooling

Being a clever bugger, I borrowed my Brother-in-Laws pressure washer and blasted years of muck out of my Citroën ally radiator, it looked pristine and immediately leaked like a sieve, totally ruined...

    Re: Cabrio V8 cooling

If the fins have been flattened, it will limit the flow, for sure. One of the ‘tasks’ when servicing customers air-con was to ‘comb’ the fins to improve air-flow through.

Re: Hunter V8 exhaust manifold heat shields

An impossibly neat and tidy engine bay Peter, you put mine to shame! Oh how I wish I had the time (and inclination) to do the same, and I know it’s not that your car spends all it’s life in the...

    Re: MT75 Kwik shift

It probably worked fine, just you couldn't hear it over the noise of the engine!

I appear to have an added power-booster and 1970’s ‘Ghetto-Blaster’ speakers on my Hunter.

    I spent some time...

    Idle Air-Control valve, testing:-

    Ford 2.3ltr DOHC-16valve fuel-injected.

Idles at about 12-1300 rpm, which seems a bit high? Otherwise runs fine.

Does anyone have experience of testing the idle air-flow valve? It’s a...

Again, not sure if this helps, my tank has large diameter, (left) and small diameter (right) outlets, small diameter goes to near top of filler downpipe, as you can see.

Re: Clunking Differential - play/ backlash?

Given that there is no drain plug, what is the collective opinion on top-up vs drain and refill? Our diff’s probably haven’t done many miles, but the oil is going to be at least twenty years old.
