    Re: Marina bottom trunnion

I have taken the Walford threaded sleeve off and fitted a new original size part. It is a good solid fit with no play so I hope that sorts it. Once again, thanks for the advice.

Thanks Adrian for your kind offer, photo and info on the Walford kit. I'll have a good look at the job later and decide what to do next. Franklin.

    Re: Marina bottom trunnion

    Thanks chaps,
Just after I posted the message I looked up the history of this problem and what you have just told me is all there. I should have looked first!
Anyway, Adrian, I may get back to...

    Marina bottom trunnion

I have got to replace my nearside bottom trunnion. The supplier I'm in touch with says the diameter of the thread is about 23mm but the one I have just taken off is clearly far bigger than this at...
  6. Re: Windscreen surround .. paint recommendations ?

    I meant brushing Hammerite.
  7. Re: Windscreen surround .. paint recommendations ?

I used Hammerite about 10 years ago. It needs doing again but it is cheap and easy.

Re: Marina Propshaft to Rear Diff Nuts

Just seen this thread so may be a bit late with my comment, which is -- When I asked for advice about adjusting the handbrake cable with least amount of trouble I was told that if you had UJs for...

    2018 calendar

Thanks to John Mulvaney for his continued efforts to keep the MOC calendar going.
My favourite photo by far is September which features "Laura and Berlinetta at Goodwood Revival".
    It looks like a...

    Re: Marina brakes

OK, thanks once again for all this helpful info. The brakes only lock up in serious emergency situations, specially in the wet. Steve's earlier point about tyre pressures is one I can do something...

    Re: Marina brakes

This is all very interesting but why not use steel like mine? But more important (to me), going back to my original question - by disconnecting the servo, to what extent is the extra pressure...

    Re: Marina brakes

Thanks for all these helpful comments. Good points about poor quality tyres and tyre pressures etc. I will attend to the latter now.
Geoff, I remember talk about the strengthening bracket but I have...

    Marina brakes

For some time (about 17 years) I have had the feeling that the servo brakes on my 1275cc engined Roadster are far too severe on emergency application, especially in the wet. I don't think the...

Re: Brake servo on Marina based cars

Thanks for all those comments. Steve, you are quite right about the servo not making any difference to the brake balance but my thought was that if there wasn't a servo, it would get rid of the...

Re: Brake servo on Marina based cars

Thanks for those comments. I had often thought that the relatively light weight of the 1275cc engine and set well back compared to the donor car leads to poor flexing/grip of the front tyres. I...

Brake servo on Marina based cars

I am always interested in discussions about Marina master cylinders and servos but I didn't want to hijack Meverett's recent thread on this subject so I thought I'd start my own.
    If I was going to...

    Roadster seats

My seats are the original 1980s jobs and they are getting uncomfortable. About 8 years ago I swapped my seat base for the passenger's to get a more comfortable ride but now I fear they are both in...

    Re: Handbrake woes...

When I adjust my handbrake cable I get the car as high as possible, prop it with big wooden blocks under the chassis and let the back wheels and prop shaft drop. This gives more space to get spanners...

Re: Marina prop shaft and UJs

Me again, I should have mentioned that I intend to do a DIY refurb job on the knackered UJ and also the "good" end too while I'm at it.
I think they come in sets of 2.

    Marina prop shaft and UJs

My LWB 1275cc Marina engined Roadster needs a new rear UJ. On taking off the prop shaft I was surprised to see that the splined telescopic part was at the back by the diff. I was expecting it to be...
