    I believe that silver steel is relatively soft in the as supplied condition (circa 270HB/27HRC). It will harden up with heat-treatment but I assume you won't be doing this.

    Thanks. If I can't find a longer off the shelf option, a modified/made to measure driveshaft will probably be the route I'll be forced down.
