Re: Marlin Hunter for Sale on Autotrader

16 bids £4700. The engine looks like a V4 but I could be wrong. Then the seller adds ' it is an early Cabrio'. Strange, No? Just counted the plug leads again 6, Doh! The engine room and interior is...

Re: Smiths Fuel Gauge To Tank Sender

The point is that with no oxygen in the tank the sender will not cause an explosion. Working on gas pipelines, welders would weld fittings onto live mains running at 100+Bar. No danger as there is no...

Re: Smiths Fuel Gauge To Tank Sender

Re, sparks in fuel tanks. I have in the past removed senders from fuel tanks where the rheostat wires had burned through probably with lots of sparks! The thing to remember is the fire 'triangle'...

Re: Smiths Fuel Gauge To Tank Sender

Maybe the gauge is very sensitive and the fuel sloshing around makes the float bob around. no solution I'm afraid. I solved the Escort to Marina problem by cutting the Escort sender out and fitting a...

    Re: Hard top wanted

On a slight tangent, I had an LWB Roadster hardtop made from a mould which has been mentioned on the forum. I have an SWB Roadster and spent a while looking at it trying to think how to shorten it. I...

    Re: Steering Wheel Alignment

Also, well done. I was going to sugest putting the nut on the shaft, pulling hard on the steering wheel and hitting the nut with a big hammer. It has worked for me in the past.

    Re: Steering Wheel Alignment

I wonder if you removed all the screws and moved the wheel one hole ,would that make it right? BTW If you are trying to bang the boss off, put the nut back losely to avoid being smacked in the face!.

    Re: Ignition Fault.....Somewhere!

This sounds just like the problem I had with my 1800. It turned out to be a bad electrical contact where the battery lead joined the starter motor. They were done up tight but when undone the faces...

Re: Brakes - Single or dual circuit?

My Roadster is over braked on the front and a suggestion was made to fit a pressure reducer in the font line to balance it. Car Builders IIRC.

    Re: 1.8TC exhaust system options

As far as I can see and for what it is worth that looks the same as my 1800TC. Might it be easier to turn the exhaust manifold upside down and take it through the bonnet a'la tractor? Get the heat...

    Re: 1.8TC exhaust system options

I wonder if the LCB exhaust could be modified to fit? In SS without the right welding equipment a bit problematic. The SS LCB is not cheap to begin with. Possibly a trawl through exhaust makers.

Sorry mate but Locust is not for sale in the foreseeable future. One day it will be my next project!
