Re: DRL152K Marina based roadster rebuild

I have made a little progress in between kitchen fitting. I have remade the lower steering column mount so it now clears the pedals. While I was at it I bent the clutch pedal so it is a more...

    Re: Trails car suspension

Do you need more travel or just extra length?
If you just need more length would it not be simpler to make new upper mounts. They are very simple and just bolted to the chassis.

Re: DRL152K Marina based roadster rebuild

I have almost (see below) completed the revised steering column arrangement. The column now exits at the bottom of the dash, instead of through it, and the steering wheel is angled at about the...

Thanks. Not worried about new tunnel and floors as I am making new anyway.
I don't suppose you have any pictures?

B series engine and overdrive gearbox

Has anyone ever fitted the B series engine, in a Marina based Marlin, with an MGB overdrive gearbox?
The engine/gearbox combo comes up quite a lot on Ebay and an overdrive box certainly is an...

    Re: Marlin on YouTube

I recognise the Sportster. I built it, sold it to Steve Pritchard. Not sure if that is him in the video or not!

Chassis looks sound. If a little basic. Jago must have liked their box section tubing!

    Re: Steering column position

Thanks for the info and pictures.
I have mocked up my new steering "arrangement" using a combination of a Triumph upper and lower column and the old Marina lower column as modified by Marlin. I'll...

    Re: Good morning.

The Marina suspension is not really adjustable other than ride height. The major downside of its simple design.
The only adjustment that Marlin suggest was the moving of the thick and thin packing...

    Re: Good morning.

Welcome to the club. I am currently rebuilding DRL 152K. Or perhaps I should say building....
Suggest you check for cracks in the bulkhead arround the pedal box. Older cars used to suffer badly with...

    Steering rack stops?

Are steering rack stops required on a Marina based Roadster to stop the tyres contacting the bonnet sides?
I haven't seen them mentioned anywhere but thought it worth asking whilst I am in the...

Re: DRL152K Marina based roadster rebuild

I have made some good progress on replacing the front bulkhead. The original was rather tired and had a scary crack from pressure from the pedal box....

    Re: Steering column position

Thank-you Duncan. That's exactly the sort of arrangement I was thinking about. Good tip about rotating the rack slightly (so the UJ runs at a better angle I guess). How did you do that exactly? - it...

    Steering column position

One of the worse things IMHO, aesthetically and ergonomically, about the Marina roadster is the way the steering column sits through the dashboard and the resulting rather vertical orientation of the...

If there is just a tiny hole in the plastic I would be tempted to melt it closed using a carefully applied soldering iron.

    OK. Thanks for the suggestions
One question remains in my mind however. Is it worth the effort of fitting windscreen demister vents?

    Heater options

I am currently re-making the front bulkhead of DRL152K and, as that is where it may be mounted, I am thinking about heater options. I wondered what others have done and I have a few questions.

    Is...

    Re: Unregistered Roadster on eBay

Got outbid literally right in the last second. Looks like someone using a bidding program or very lucky.
It went for £231.99. Sounds a lot but I guess a lot chaeper than having one made....

    Re: Unregistered Roadster on eBay

I did ask the seller! He didn't know there was SWB and LWB initially, but then came back to me saying they were SWB. I guess he did some checking.
I do need them and I have made him an offer:-)
