Re: Roadster Rebuild Diary from Cornwall

The traditional way of holding the rail in place was with a squash ball.

We'll be going to Haynes tomorrow as haven't seen it since the refurbishment and it's only 40 minutes away but appreciate the weather might deter everyone else!

    Re: Where's your engine number?

According to the Haynes Manual 'On 2.0 litre DOHC engines, the engine number is stamped on the front face of the cylinder block, below the upper timing chain cover'. I hope that is the case but the...

Spitfire - Dolomite - Marina. Most of the internals are interchangeable. I used the Dolomite main shaft in the Marina box to allow its overdrive to fit on the back. Seem to remember making one good...

Mine was already broken when I got the car but more likely misuse than poor welding.

    Re: Panhard rod or not?

Afraid not. Car was built in 1989 and sold 1998, we didn't take many photos back then. Having said that, the buyer was only 10 miles away and I see it is now SORN'd. If he still has it and not moved...

Re: 2.3 DOHC fuel pump failure

On the subject of filters. When I got the Hunter it had no filter but there was a join in the pipe between tank and pump so I fitted a cheap one there, it always had air in it and wouldn't run...

    2.3 DOHC fuel pump failure

Took the hunter for a test drive yesterday after some work on the cooling system only to have the fuel pump fail, luckily only 5 miles away so towed it home.
Single HP pump near the tank, unknown...

    Re: Panhard rod or not?

I also fitted a panhard rod to my marina roadster as well as anti tramp bars, sort of five link with the leaf springs as two of the links. It worked really well. A drop bracket welded to the...

It was me and Jean! Out for a short trip round the block on a warm evening. The first time we've seen another Hunter by chance, thought it might have been you.
  18. Re: 1997 Marlin Hunter 2.3 inj ford runs rough at 3000 RPM under load

My fuel cut-off loom has cracked insulation from heat mainly at injector plugs but I have already spoken to the main ford dealer here about getting a new one. Part no. is 1063557 or 1063559,...
  19. Re: 1997 Marlin Hunter 2.3 inj ford runs rough at 3000 RPM under load

When the battery is disconnected the ECU looses what it has learnt and reverts to factory default settings. It can take 20 miles or more of varied driving to re-learn your settings, gradually...

I have the same problem with my Hunter (same engine) as peterboat so avoiding 'town' driving as its very embarrasing when it happens! Only done about 400 miles so far and most of that was Somerset to...
