  • Exhaust Blowing

OK, its time has come and I need a new silencer box on my Marlin. Anyone got any ideas as to where I start with make etc. The engine is a Toyota Corolla 1.6 (2T) and I haven't any idea where the original box came from. The ruinning fear is from a Marina (If that helps?). Hope someone can help. Adrian

Obvious but not cheapest answer is - go "stainless". Otherwise if its just the silencer, its a case of friendly exhaust centre and tape measure.

Rear section silencer from MK2 Cavalier SRi has the right bends and make nice noise!

Well I have decided to see if my local man can weld it. I'm no welder myself so will have to use this guy and he says that he will use a gas welder. I will see how it goes and let you all know. Many thanks for the info, Adrian

Twice I cracked mine at the base of the manifold. When you gun the engine it twists and it put too much strain on the front half of the silencer. I finally got a stainless specialist exhaust outfit to fit a S/S flexible section at the bottom of the manifold and touch wood that has solved for several years now. A not inexpensive solution however !

Hi everyone. Thanks very much for your advice and the exhaust is now welded and in good shape. £20, not bad I would say.
