      Re: Marlin Mk1

What are the current rules regarding registration?
I am building a Ford Sierra based Cabrio, but with a BMW engine and gearbox. What determines what the donor car is deemed to be. Is mine a 1993 ex BMW, or an ex Sierra 1991?

Hi Mike, I have answered this on the Misc Forum but see you have asked the question here, so I have pasted the answer so you won't miss it. My Roadster has the engine, gearbox and electrics from a Toyota Corrola and is registered with the number plate from the original Morris Marina on which the running gear is based on. I don't know if that helps? Adrian

Hi Mike registering your car has changed a bit since you last done it! Your car has sierra running gear regardless of whatever engine you may use or even if you should change it in the future. However the difference now is that you will not retain the donor reg nor will you end up with a q plate you will get an age related number. Keep your donor logbook on SORN ready.
            Danny.
