  • Berli sump query

A question for the technical people, it has been suggested to me that I should fit a sump from a Capri to my 2 litre Pinto Berli as this will improve ground clearance, is this correct?

    Re: Berli sump query

    Hi Paul,

I fited one to my berli. I obtained it (under false pretences) from the Ford Capri club!

The bottom of the sump is now no lower than the chassis side members and I have not managed to clonk it so far....Some are fitted with anti surge baffles. CHECK THIS. The baffles prevent the dip stick bottoming properly with the obvious consequences. you can drill a hole for the dip stick if you get one of these. I also fitted a high capacity oil pump whilst the sump was off. Great oil pressure but I now have an oil leak from my head gasket. The engine is clapped and will be re-built this winter.

I hope that this helps you.

    Cheers for now,
    Dane.
