Thanks Bob, thats the beast. you can do the work yourself, and rebuild a Type 9 gearbox, if you have a bench you can lay the parts out on.

All we have done is make up a plate that sits between a slightly modified Marina bell housing and the Type 9, and work out how to make it all fit in a Marlin or Marina etc using the Marina clutch.

The MGB boys have done a conversion bell housing for their Type 9 installation but to do that on a Marina you need to fit a complete MGB backplate, starter motor, flywheel and clutch.

    The assembly looks like this.

I do have a modified bell housing in my garage that I can supply on an exchange basis.

Re: Marina to Ford Type 9 gearbox conversion.

After four years, we have closed down the 5speedmarina website. All sales for the adaptor plates are now through eBay only.
The first one sold in less than an hour!
We have limited stock. There are no plans to have any more plates manufactured, this is where the project ends.

Many thanks to those who have purchased and installed, from Marina based kitcars, not just Marlins, but the Morris Marina community too.

The difference an overdrive makes is significant, the Marina was essentially designed for 60mph, overdrive makes 70mph driving easy without taking away the fun of the first four gears.

Waking up a very old thread here. Are there any drawings of the adapter plate? So that it might be possible to have a one off manufactured?
