  • Hursley Motor Club Welding course

Hursley Motor Club have organised a welding course with Sparsholt College Engineering Department. We have a couple of spare places and I would like to open them to local (Winchester) MOC members.

This course will enable you to discover the skills required to become an amateur welder. The course is held at a local college with a professional instructor.

MIG welding equipment is well within the reach of enthusiastic hobbyist and can be used for a number of applications including automotive build and repair.

Gas metal arc welding can be dangerous if proper precautions are not taken. Risks include molten metal, toxic gasses and radiation hazards.

This course is aimed at first time to intermediate welders. On completion of the course, attendees will be able to perform basic welding tasks, manage equipment to a competent standard and have a general understanding of safety procedures. Working in individual work areas you will have every opportunity to develop your practical skills.

The welding course is held over two evenings one week apart (Total of 4 hours), this gives the student an opportunity to use their experience over the weekend and bring questions/issues/ small projects/issues back for a QA session the following week. The course will be led by a very experienced instructor at Sparsholt workshop, the group is limited to ten places and welding guidance notes will be provided, although this is purely "hands on" course. The college have Arc, Mig and a Tig welder, this is an ideal opportunity to refresh your past experience or improve your self taught skills.

This is an exclusive course for the Hursley Motor Club.
