Both front corners of my Mark 1 roadster's hood were getting worse for wear, and had started tearing and degenerating. The front right corner (pictured) seemed to be split in a complex way, and I wasn't sure if anyting could be done, since the vinyl is so old in the first place. It seems that part of the hood is constantly under a lot of stress, and the odd shock when a passenger gets in and bumps the roof's edge!
Nevertheless, I took the hood to a trusted local cobbler's and the owner (who had built several kit cars in his day) confidently said he'd be able to patch it up good and strong.
Well, hey - I'm VERY happy with the results, and with the large area of stiching and the big vinyl patch glued in underneath, it looks like the old hood's got a good bit of life left in it yet!
What can I say - both corners patched and reinforced for 35 quid done the same day. Nice. www.cobbler.co.uk K.G. Shoes, Camden Town, London
