Donnie Brian Gadd has got some stainless domn pipes that we the club bought from YKC. These are a fraction of original cost, There is the single cross over pipe that fits the cortina manifold, and there is the twin downpipe that fits the sierra manifold.

        Hi Donnie

Just to let you know, YKC have sold to Aquila cars (http://www.aquilasportscars.com/) and Milan Mladenovic is your man if you need Berli parts.

          Thanks for that Sue.

I've just taken delivery of the Berli - really chuffed - and membership application will be dropping on MOC's doormat very soon!

              Not this year, I'm afraid!
The car needs a good going over to make sure it's safe and reliable. It's a solid machine, but has been off the road for about 5-6 years.
A good 'project', as they say!

Only if you bring it onto the stand! Of course we won't laugh, at least you will be there! I've just spent three hours getting all my camping gear ready and into the car from the loft. It's amazing what you can get in a Berli.

                      Re: Side Exhaust Pipe

                      Thanks Sue.

The real reason is that I have two lil' kids - 3&4 - who would find a 7-hour round trip a bit of a trial (or, mum and dad would...).

                      Definitely next year!

(The kids LOVE the Berli - even tho' all I've managed so far is backwards and forwards trips in and out of the garage in a plume of smoke...)

OK Donnie, I understand now! Stoneleigh was great and I am looking forward to the next event - Exmoor on the 20th May.

                          Re: Side Exhaust Pipe

I was thinking of you all! If I get the Berli on the road for the Exmoor trip, I'm sure I'll make a day visit at least - touch and go at the moment, tho'!

On that note, even if I don't make it, I have a roomy garage in Northam, North devon, and most tools (nothing specialised tho') that any unfortunate souls could used to make basic-ish repairs to their motors if the worst were to happen. My details should be with the MOC by now. A phone call would be all that'd be needed.

DANE CROSBY, if you are reading this - can I ask what 'box you used on your side system, and how loud it is?! Thanks.

Thanks for the offer Donnie. It could well be my jalopy that needs repairs so stand by!

                              Hi Donnie,

My box is the old YKC side silencer sold to me by Don Burt. It is legal but do not expect to hear the radio much at cruise speeds with the hood down!

I also experimented with the Europa, Er, Muff Diver (genuine name!) This was Ok but noisy at lower speeds. It is also a hideous purple colour.
The Stainles YKC one is better but is colouring up now.
see photos at entry five in this thread.
                              Cheers.

                                Re: Side Exhaust Pipe

Many thanks Dane - very useful info.

I'd really like to go the side route as it's much simpler and less prone to damage. However, I'd also wish to keep noise levels to a min.
I certainly don't expect dual box quiteness, but there must be a single box out there with enough volume to make it not too far off? Jon Cox, in a post above, had some good info, and it might be that the way to go is to fit a large-ish box and, if it's not quite enough, to slip an internal muffler into the pipe too.
I was hoping someone out there had some practical experience of this! Cheers.

(Sue, why do I think that your Berli is actually a pristine example of the marque...!)
