  • Propshaft wear

MOT pass today but comment on movement of propshaft bearings at rear end. Told not part of test but recommended new bearings. They need to be pressed in so will have to be sent away. 2 quotes one £75 the other possibly £150.
    Any advice please.

    Re: Propshaft wear

I recently had a new prop shaft made with all new parts for £100 locally. Premier prop shafts Atherstone.
I also spoke to a company at the Stoneleigh Show called Bailey Morris (www.baileymorris.co.uk) they indicated that they could also make a new prop for about £100 the joints used in these new shafts are the good old fashioned circlip type with grease nipples.

          Re: Propshaft wear

          Phil,
          Thanks again.
The propshaft was about to be repaired by the business you suggested.
Apparently one of the bearings had already been replaced but very badly so that it could not be done again.
However they made up a complete new prop shaft for virtually the same price!
Very helpful and despite summer holidays turn round very good.
Marcello is back on the road. Cheers

            Hi again,
sorry not to add: it was the 'bailey morris' firm that did the necessary.
