  • Zetec engine mounts

Hi it's been a while since my last post on engine changes and you have proberbly gussed from the title. I have gone for a black top zetec out of a focus donor car I have been busy beavering away when I can ,and have nearly got to the point where I can drop the engine into the car and have a look at its best position for it.my question is should the ruber engine mounts be set at a angle or is it ok for them to be upright so the metal mounts literally sit on top, hope this makes sense also which rubber mounts would you use? And are three mounting points one on the gearbox and two on the engine surfishent.
    Thanks Angus

    Re: Zetec engine mounts

Hi Angus great to know its coming along! I used the 2.0 DOHC engine and my homemade mounts are pretty much straight up from the rubber mount. I reckoned that as they are a bout midpoint on the engine then the weight of the g'box will stop it moving forward. http://www.flickr.com/photos/3726785...in/photostream

        Re: Zetec engine mounts

I just used what i had to hand, knowing the weight of a v8 is about 400lbs and the DOHC is about 320 lbs I didnt worry too much. A 2.0 zetec is about 260lbs according to the googles (http://www.spydercars.co.uk/zetec_tech_spec.htm) so it may affect you more than me...

          Re: Zetec engine mounts

Thanks again Cameron from the what you have said v8 rubber mounts would be over the top for my engine weight so I am going to buy some zetec rubber mounts from kit spares.
