  • Speedo Angle Drive

    Hi all

I am fitting a speedo cable to an A Series Engine with a 4 speed gearbox.

It's tight and is rubbing against the tunnel.

I am looking for an Angle Drive which will work at about 45 degrees.

    Any information will be good.

I have looked on the internet but nothing specifically for the A Series.

From what I remember Speedy Cables or Speedograph Richfield can provide suitable angle drives...not a budget item though..! Some subtle reshaping of the tunnel side was usually the first option, followed by an angle drive if that didn't work. Early on I broke a cable on a stock B series install and after (carefully!) knocking 7 bells out of the tunnel the car ran for many years on the next cable without recourse to an angle drive.

My Roadster originally had a Marina box. The builder had cut an elongated slot in the side of the transmission tunnel that eased the cable route. The slot was then covered by a glassfibre elongated dome, all hidden under the carpet.
