      Hi Brian,

Are you rebuilding your own box or using a recon ?

Re: What have you done with your marlin today

        Hi Ben,
The plan, only one I've got, is to rebuild.
The missing teeth are on a reverse cog, a common problem I believe with the Marina box. I'm hoping the damage is high in the box and thus easy to fix!!!
There is a 'unit' on one of our industrial estates that can, apparently, replace any damaged cog.

Re: What have you done with your marlin today

Errm you will have to see what they say, which box is it 1300 or 1800 normally the reverse idler gear and its shaft are the last bits to come out of a single rail box. Unless they have a tweak you may be in for a complete rebuild.

          Best of luck

Re: What have you done with your marlin today

            Hi
After a successful and busy weekend away with county team the box is now out and proudly 'standing' on the garage floor.

In truth an easy enough operation and made so thanks to the borrowing of an engine hoist from my local garage.

            (It's an 1800 box.)

Re: What have you done with your marlin today

I uncovered the Cabrio from its winter dust sheets, started it and drove up and down the drive several times and checked for water and oil leaks.
Repositioned the drivers interior footwell light. Replaced the headlamp bulbs with new Osram H4 60/55 night breaker plus bulbs which is very bright white light (£11/pair off ebay) compared to the standard bulbs and even the 100/80 which gives an orange effect light. So ready for taxing and driving next weekend weather permitting.

The first drive out this year on the new 17" wheels/tyres and pushed it really hard on the country roads and what a fantastic difference with the electric power steering and being able to throw it in and out of corners and very smooth over bumps with no kick back through the steering compared to the 15" wheels and manual steering.
I would say its nearly as good as my VX Insignia SRI on 20" wheels/tryes.

Re: What have you done with your marlin today

Another drive right across Dorset to Weymouth to got to work from the Somerset border. Some exillerating bits of road, coming into Sherborne there is a series of sweeping bends with an extremely smooth surface, then later coming over the Giants Head (a road that runs along the tops of some hills by the Cerne Abbas giant) there are some long straights with no junctions, you can really open it up, I must have got somewhere near 60 along there!

So long as it is dry when its time to go home
