  • need some help with LWB hood & screens

    Hi,
Finally got round to buying the Marlin I always promised myself (I remember seeing what must have been one of the very first ones as I once lived next door to Paul Moorhouse when he was building them in his garage). I've made all the schoolboy errors in my choice and brought without seeing or doing enough research. I've wanted to have a go at trials which fitted in with my desire to own a Marlin, so naturally I got myself something that's not at all suitable and in real terms was not a very good buy anyway.
I've sorted out some of the running problems with the car, (poor routing of the handbrake cable, engine fan damaged beyond repair) and have some more mechanicals to sort yet but my immediate problem is getting a hood sorted out, anyone got any tips?
    Cheers

Welcome to the forum, sound like you have been busy. I am happier starting with something that needs a little work, it kinda get's you 'into' the car, with a kit car you need to have personal input, to me that's the whole idea, otherwise may as well just buy an Escort or an Astra.

I don't have a hood yet but I suppose I will need one given the trend in our climate.

I do have a standard hood if that is any help but if you are LWB I guess it isn't.

I may even surprise myself and find it fit's my car yet... Standard doors seem to fit, well sort of...

Re: need some help with LWB hood & screens

If you're getting one made I might be able to save you some time. I've contacted every trimmer in the country with an e-mail address to quote for a new hoods/screens - I've had over 25 responses. Most expensive about £1700 (very funny - I did tell them I could get a whole car WITH a hood for that), lots around £750, but the cheapest at £450 was The Don Trimming Company, previously recommended by
                someone on this board.
