      Re: Sportster and the IVA

Hi Dic. I put my Sportster through IVA nearly 2 years ago now at the Bristol test centre. What sort of advice were you after? There is a manual you can download with details of all the relevant tested areas, and the criteria you need to meet. Biggest things for me were making sure the brakes were up to the test, self centering steering, noise level test (passed by 1db), speedo accuracy, covering all edges with correctly radiused edgings, and the number and position of lights and indicators, and their viewing angles. One thing you will need is proof of the age of your engine, so the emissions level can be age specific. The manual can sound quite ambiguous in places, and some of the criteria are certainly up for interpretation by the tester you get on the day. Let me know what specific things you wanted help with, and I 'might' be able to help (a bit!)

      Cheers

          Re: Sportster and the IVA

Hi - not been on the forum for a while, so only just seen this.

Here's a list of things to watch out for: http://greatoldone.squarespace.com/iva-advice/

And what we faced on the day: http://greatoldone.squarespace.com/b...a-was-won.html

That should cover most of it - but shout if you need specific advice.
