Ben £5000 fine or 24 months inside if found out - plus car is crushed !!! and there are some police who are car nuts !!

as soon as you alter the engine cc - it will ring a bell and if you read the DVLA link an inspection might be required !! They have specialiazed department now especially for 'historic ' free car tax !!
Plus your insurance will not cover you as the car is not as described on the V5 !!

this car is not over 30 years old.
It will be inspected and classed as an individual duild ( a one off ).
The log book will have all the correct numbers .
The engine size has not changed this is why i've used this engine
      rather than something bigger.

There was a guy at RAF Lyneham back in the 7o's who put an Jaguar XK chassis and running gear under the shell of a MK2 Cortina. Sadly I never took any photos. Just shows what can be done if you have the skills.
        Well done Paul!

Dan(Colin) Grewer of the York Motor Club had a Mk1 escort with a 4.2 litre jag engine in it , he used to rally it, currently lying in a barn somewhere in finistere I believe, sadly he died anout 4 - 5 yrs ago

I guessed that from your post a while back, where you were insistent on a 30+ year old car

Sorry for that, over 30 year is much easyer for papers but under is still possible.

That's one heck of a bit of an engineering project! Well done! Can't wait to see the next instalment.

Car striped again, sand blasted, primered and chassis blacked.

at last a bit of progress.
Hand brake fitting is a pain in the ass but getting there.DSC_1305.jpg
Just ran out of gas on the mig and here in France every thing is closed till the new year so no gas.
Floor cut to fit, now the gearbox tunnel ( not easy).DSC_1300.jpgDSC_1304.jpg
                          Hopefully more new soon.DSC_1301.jpg

Bonne année and happy new year to all

Re: has any body tryed to fit a MX5 into a roadster?

                            back to it.

Had some problems with the wiring.
Removed all unwanted wires for electric windows, locks, air con and lots more.
Then the engine would not start. Re-checked every thing and all looked good BUT
with the ignition on testing wires i burnt out the coils.
                            New coils and working again.DSC_1334.jpg
Now trying to get the front and rear wings to line up, not as easy as it sounds.DSC_1352.jpgDSC_1358.jpgDSC_1359.jpg
Still a lot of cutting and fiber glass to go.
The inside is slowly coming to gether.DSC_1355.jpgDSC_1357.jpg
I've fitted a triumph dolomite sprint radiator ( turned ) with mx5 cooling fan, works fine in the garage hope it works on the road.

                            All for now

I would soon like to get some photos of this marlin next to an other to
                              see the differance .
                              Thanks Paul
