  • Alternative rear springs

Has anyone tried any other springs on the back of their roadsters , mine are 2 leaf and pretty worn with little curvature left , not ideal for trials !!, there also seems to very little clearance between the spring clips and the chassis rail , Im looking at mk i escort springs , they seem to have the right dimensions , are a single leaf design so no clips (more clearance), but i have no idea if the spring rate is anything like right.

Towards the end of my article on Marina Axles there is a list of all known data on Marina Leaf springs including companies who can make or re temper them to your requirements.
There will be a balance between the torsion bars, depending on what you have fitted, and the rear spring rates, but a Marlin imposes considerably less weight than a standard Marina.

Loads of Marlin Reference can be found documents here or there.

I have a spare set, two leaf, if you need them? They would need the bushes replaced.

Free of charge, either you pick them up or pay for postage.

        Re: Alternative rear springs

A long time ago in Pit Stop a member was touring the continent when he broke a spring and the local mechanic managed to fit a pair of springs from what I remember a Fiat Panda.

May involve a lot of searching through the old pit stop folders below.
