I would get onto the DVLA regarding the registration -- if there is no V5 then there is little chance of getting it registered as it will not get through an IVA without a lot of work and money !!

Car is quite probably only worth the sum of its spare parts.
Without a reg no or V5 it will be classed as a new vehicle. If you did find its original reg, you would not be able to use it without opening a real can of worms.
Possibly only useful as a spare chassis, not that I would condone it.

Wouldn't it be great of the club could buy cars like this to either store in case of details later found or use for a parts shop.
        - 9th owner of T693 SSC possibly a factory built Ford based V8 Sportster
        - 4th owner of Q309 RNV, an early Cabrio built by Bob Copping, owned Doug & Liz Billings for 16 years
        - 9th Custodian of JRR 929D, Triumph Vitesse based special Paul Moorehouse built prior to the Triumph Roadster kits.
        - 8th owner of Roadster chassis number 2395. Now owned by Barry!
        - Builder of chassis number 2325 (PKK 989M) in the mid 80's. Now owned by Eric & Lynne.

Such a waste as the car looks to have lots of potential ,as the chassis number is known it should be possible to find out the old reg but as stated could be a can of worms .

One other thought could the car not have an age related plate as it has been on the road previously all that's required is proof and that might be possible if someone recognises the car or photos of the car were found.

              Re: Triumph based roadster

There is always the chance that the V5 was bought by another Marin owner because he wanted an age related plate on his own Q plated car, and he has just welded on a new chassis no plate!

If you could track down the original Reg, it won't be recorded on Marlin paperwork, but may be in club records, then check it against current DVLA records, there is a slim chance it could be revived, but if it has been scrapped.....

It's all very 'official' nowadays isn't it.

Here we have in plain sight a car, it was obviously built along time ago so won't conform to current regs. But really what's the problem. If I was the boss at DVLA I'd say "get it MOT'd with a view to the period it was built and we'll give you a correct period number".

It's probably more to do with the fact that everything is computerised, so it's outside the computer programs parameters and we no longer have local offices so you can't easily talk to someone.

One of the [many] perils of living in a centralised 'the computer says' society.

Seems if you know the name of the owner of the car the DVLA should be able to tell you the make and reg of the car no mater how long ago it was !!
