What is the fuel tank capacity of a roadster tank? Believed to be a ford escort van tank, I need to know this to calibrate my "gauge gizmo" that adapts the ford sender to spitfire lucas dial.

Hi Don, According to my technical service book it should be 9 gals 41 litres. When the tank is full it reads full as there is no resistance in the circuit, Normally the gauge reads just under 1/4 when its empty. Not enough resistance. I wired a 16ohm resistor into the circuit. This corrects the empty problem, but the gauge then reads a bit short when full.

For the record the external measurements of the tank are 26x11x7.5 inches. that is 2145 cu ins or 7.7 gallons. ((at) 277 cu in to the gallon). Given that it has rounded corners and the measurements were external, I think 7 1\2 gallons is pretty near the mark.

I will throw the book away then. I can only assume its the saloon tank it refers to but it did say all models inc van and estate
