Adrian, that is looking good, when are you getting it in the car?
May use that idea myself as I am way behind you.

Tonight hopefully and will take a picture to show fitment.

Forgot to mention, have sussed reverse detent, made it a sping plate instead, utilising the original plate and spring. Just enough pressure to stop me pushing it in reverse. No more lifting. see pic below :

I presume you have removed the reverse 'gate'?

              Hi Steve

              Nope used it.

When you push over the gear stick it pushes against the reverse gate and the spring and pushes the plate out.

When you take it out of gear the spring pushes the gate back.

There is enough force in the spring for it to tell me that I am trying to go into reverse.

              regards

Seconded! It's a shame that the engineering brains here aren't running the country.

Note: Only for those who don't mind having their engineering work on show as this sits above the tunnel but for me, I love it.

                      Parts required;

                      1 x 12mm male to female studded rose joint - £6.50
                      2 x 12mm clevis fork - £3.70
                      2 x 12mm clevis eye - £6.56
                      2 x 12mm clevis pin with clip - £1.00
                      3 x 12mm nuts - £1.44
                      1 x 12mm hub bolt - £1.00
                      1 x 12mm studding - £4.89
                      1 x 3" x 1" bar (steel or otherwise ) - found in metal bits
                      1 x gaff piece of 4" x 4" steel plate

                      TOTAL £25.09

Hopefully the picture says it all.

If not ask and I will describe.

Now to be honest without my mate doing all the lathe and boring work It would have taken more than the weekend.

Forget to add naff welding but thank god its only one bit.

As it will be the only piece and will be masked by a carpet, I'm not to worried.

I will give it a coat of paint in the final fit.

                      Regards

Looks like a nicely engineered solution.

Just a thought - could you turn your 4" square plate upside down to lose the rose joint under the transmission tunnel and make it easier and neater to carpet over? - just means making an extra hole in your plate.
