  • My Marlin Roadster is up for sale...

    Hybrid, that is Marina rear with Vitesse 2ltr front.

    Make me an offer.

    withKHCLogo600x800.jpg

    Details of the car and work carried out over the last couple of years, since 2015, on my blog and various threads here. But in short;
    • New tyres (2015)
      Recon carbs
      New battery
      New fuel filters
      Recon distributor
      New expansion tank
      New USB power supply
      New windscreen washer tank
      Paint touched up and polished
      New fresh air piping for heater
      Floor to cover fuel tank behind seats
      Thorough clean of most parts inside and out
      New rear drums, wheel cylinders and brake shoes
      Bottom in the dashboard so you can out things in it!

    Now a reliable first time starter and ready for an early start to the show season. Being older than 25 years it does qualify for classic cars shows. It's still a bit 'ratty' but don't we call that patina now. Engine shows 150psi (or is it 120) which is on spec and even in all six cylinders.

    Car comes with the folder(s) of original build manuals, workshop manuals for Triumph and Morris, receipts detailing purchase of parts and even the original builders photo album of the build.

    I have various spares, for example a pair of rear leaf springs, a new unused hi-torque starter motor, wing mirrors, various ignition parts as spares etc to go with the car.

    Reasons for sale;
    • I have 3 car first in last out parking with little on street available so I just can't get it out on the sunny days we do have!
      Lack of time to go on club runs etc due to being self employed so not making good use of it
      Done most of the bits need doing with only really the radiator and plumbing to do if someone is really picky

    Selling to fund the purchase of a modern classic (an Alfa Romeo GTV) occasional daily and weekend club run car that's easier to get my ageing frame into and out of!

    That said I'm not in a hurry to sell, I'm sure it'll go in the spring but offering here first is the right thing to do.

      Hi Adrian,

      You've hit on one of the issues, I never really did get out on club events with it. I suppose just a few local car shows a year, which isn't all bad. It's been fun re-living my youth working on it.

      One of our leased Mini's is going back in a few weeks so we're down sizing to two cars, the replacement for the Mini and the Marlin is a year 2000 Alfa Romeo GTV V6, the one in the big picture here. That give me an occasional second car and one for 'club runs' with the local Alfa club if we can.

      Small consolation is that it's an Alfa, tenuous link with a Marlin, and that the other half has said I don't have to sell it but it does help fund the GTV.

      I've got a few spares as well, leaf springs, distributor, coils, battery etc.

        Interesting seeing you had a Melos, I ran one for years (1.1 Escort MK1 based with bullet box in French Racing Blue), great little car but had to go with my wife's mobility made it a struggle for her to get in. Now have a Cabrio LWB (thanks Danny).

        I do like the look of the roadster especially as its got a straight six, gives a lovely tone to it. I'll wait and see if I sell one of my other toys in March.......

          We had a 1997 then a 99 and then a 2005 Alfa Spyder before the Marlin we really enjoyed them and the Alfa club is very good in our area. I miss the last Spyder it was a 2 litre JTS in a deep metalic blue very pretty and a big practical boot unlike the Hunter

              I too had a gtv 2.0 petrol with a bilstein upgraded suspension. Probably the best car I ever owned. Probably the one i regret selling the most too!

                  Flew through the MOT today, so bumping this thread, still for sale!

                  Just realised I was given one of the new style MOT certificates. Comparison from Government web site below, old and new.

                  Mine just says 'Pass'.
