Does anyone happen to have had a new windscreen lately for their Cabrio and if case where did they source it from.

I need one for my car and thought I would try and save some leg work before I start ringing round the usual suspects to try to find someone who can cut me one.

Happy for it to be supply only or supply and fit.

    Re: Windscreen

    Hi John
I summarised my windscreen experiences in Pitstop 194, and probably on the forum too. The upshot of it was that the insurance company gave me the number of Auto Windscreens, and they then said they could not cut laminated glass or fit to non-standard cars. Hmmm! I eventually got in touch with Specialist Glazing Services (Halifax) Ltd (aka Halifax Windscreens) on 01422 361063 who could not have been more helpful. They came to my house in Bradford, removed the old screen, cleaned & primed, and cut & fitted the new one, quickly and at reasonable cost. As you are in Leeds, they should be able to sort you out. Anyone further afield could also ring them as they may be able to give you someone more local - I think they may be part of a larger group.

Just recently, I was going through some old papers relating to the build and I discovered the sticker from the original (Marlin supplied) screen. Guess who the original suppliers were? In one, Auto Windscreens!!! Methinks they suffer with a&e disease! (e stands for elbow). For what it is worth, the info on the sticker was as follows:

    MODEL HT 9859 LGR
    LW 9859 T90

    ORDER BSG 11432

    REF A 12561 B 100396

It makes no sense to me, and I suspect it will make no sense to them either!
    Good luck - Dave

      Contact your local Auto Windscreens

Two years or so ago their man cut me one (from a Land Rover screen?????) but don't forget you need the etched markings on it

An alternative if you don't need the E marking is to contact a plant glass firm (tractors and digger glass type) who often have flat sheet of the correct type.
